​Consumers are right to demand reforms to administered prices to reduce the cost of living, but anything that lowers tax revenue will have consequences. Someone always has to pay   

One of the top priorities of the government of national unity (GNU) is to reduce poverty and tackle the high cost of living. Specifically, it is considering exempting more food items from VAT and reviewing the fuel price formula to identify areas where prices can be reduced. 

However, the National Treasury has been quick to pour cold water on these suggestions. ..
